One cleanup action for verified items
Scan supported locations, read each finding, and review the selection. Clean All Safe then starts one action for eligible Safe to Remove items. SpaceFix runs fresh checks before supported files move to macOS Trash; follow any confirmation shown in the app. Needs Review and protected data stay separate.
Moving a file to Trash does not immediately reclaim disk space. Review Trash before emptying it, then check available storage again. Results vary by Mac, permissions, files, and app version.
See what is using your Mac storage
Storage Overview helps explain supported categories and keeps used space distinct from eligible cleanup. Depending on the current scan and permissions, you can review caches, temporary data, Trash, app storage, and generated developer files. Large or unfamiliar files are not automatically disposable.
For a closer look at storage totals, open the Mac storage analyzer. If a category seems unusually large, the System Data guide explains why that macOS label is not a folder to erase. The cache guide explains what can be rebuilt and what needs care.
A clearer view of developer storage
Xcode builds and caches, and supported data from tools such as Codex, Cursor, and Windsurf, can grow alongside your work. SpaceFix distinguishes eligible generated files from projects, archives, and history that may still matter. Coverage depends on the app version, permissions, and the data found on your Mac.
For category-by-category context, read the Xcode and AI developer storage guide.
Manual Mac cleanup and SpaceFix
Apple’s Storage settings help you find large categories and review files you recognize. SpaceFix adds explanations for supported locations and separates findings into Safe to Remove, Needs Review, and protected states. It does not replace your judgment or macOS permissions.
If you prefer to start in Finder and System Settings, follow the step-by-step disk-space guide. Apple also documents its built-in Mac storage options.
When a storage cleaner can help
- Your Mac is running low on space: identify the largest supported categories before removing anything.
- The startup disk keeps filling up: use the full startup-disk checklist to look beyond one cleanup pass.
- System Data or caches look confusing: inspect their contributors and decide with context.
- Developer tools use significant storage: distinguish generated files from work you need to keep.
Your Mac, your decision
SpaceFix is a native Mac app. The scan is processed locally, and cleanup requires your action. Important, uncertain, and protected data stays separate from automatic Safe to Remove. Read the privacy policy for the published details about data handling and Apple services.
See your storage. Review. Then clean verified items.
Try SpaceFix on a Mac running macOS 13 or later. Eligible users get 7 days free; the subscription is then $3.99/month for one active Mac. Apple displays eligibility, local pricing, and final terms.
